You all probably remember, my cousin Amie's little girl Rylie who received a liver transplant just over 6 months ago. Well they have located the donor's family and this is about him. It really is amazing and so I wanted to share it all with you!
Son.
Father.
Husband.
Brother.
Nephew.
Grandson.
Cousin.
Friend.
Organ Donor.
Our Hero.
Randon Blaine Johnson
I am so honored and my heart is full as I tell you a little bit about Rylie's donor, Randon. I am so grateful that his mother was able to find us. The more I learn about Randon, the more I realize how much he and Rylie are alike. They have both touched so many peoples lives. My brother Garrit called me last Saturday night (we were in St. George visiting Randy's Grandma) and said that Rylie's donor's mom had found us through his wife's blog. I can't even begin to tell you the emotions that came over me as he told me this. We have felt such a connection and felt like we knew Rylies donor throughout the past 6 months, but now to be able to learn his name and who he was, was such a blessing and miracle. Over the next couple of days my brother kept me updated as he found out through Randons amazing mother more information about him. Randon was only 21 years old. He was the son of Blaine and Cheri, husband to Brittiny, and father to two beautiful children Gairimiah (pronounced Jerimiah) and Brooklyn. I am going to post what his mom wrote me about Randon. "Randon was the light & life of any party. He always lite up a room. he had so many friends. there were over 350 people at his funeral & he had 16 pall bearers. Randon was & is our pride & joy, he was very loving, compassionate, funny, & a DARE DEVIL!!! he loved to give me & his wife a heart attack every chance he got! He loved his kids & wife very much, his son Gairimiah (pronounced Jerimiah) was his best Bud, & his daughter Brooklynn was a daddy's girl. Randon passed away a month and a half after his daughter turned one. (she is a 4th of July baby) and two weeks short of his son turning 3."
My heart is so saddened for the loss this family is having to endure. I honestly cannot even imagine for a second how hard that must be. What is so amazing is how Randon became an organ donor, it is a miracle really, and again I'll use his mothers words:
" I am so glad & grateful that Rylie is doing awesome. The only thing that helps us get through Randon's death is knowing that, that beautiful girl is alive because of him. Randon had a dream when he was 16 that he had died and that his organs helped save the life of a little girl. That is the reason randon became an organ donor. I want you to know that in our time of sorrow, it was not a difficult decision to donate his organs, that is what he wanted & we did too. I think the only thing that helped us get through it was we were told that his liver would go to an 11 yr old girl in Utah. I remembered Randons dream & told my daughter in law that was Randons purpose for being here on earth, he was waiting for that child to need him. That was just like Randon, he stood up for what he believed in, & would have given up his life for anybody."
I don't know a greater hero than that....he was waiting for Rylie to need him. My little girl is alive today because of his decision to be an organ donor. My little girl is alive today because his mother remembered a dream her son had when he was 16. How do you thank someone for your child's life....there are no words. But we can honor Randon by sharing him with all of you. He was an amazing person. He has an amazing family. He gave an amazing gift. We truly feel a bond with him and his family. There is a wonderful video/slide show of Randon that has touched my heart. I've shed a lot of tears watching it. Here is the link to view Randon's obituary and the movie: Randon Blaine Johnson go to Obituaries, page 5 about halfway down. Randons mom Cheri said "As much as it hurts us not having Randon here, we are very very grateful & proud of our son for being able to give your daughter Rylie the gift of life. she is truly an amazing girl & she gives me inspiration that life does go on."

Wow! What an amazing person! I know it's morbid, but how did he die? He looks healthy- I feel so bad for his kids- wow!
how sad! What happened to him?
Thanks Allison for posting this, his mom told me the more people that know about Randon the better, kind of a way to honor him..so thank you!
That is such a wonderful story thanks so much for sharing it he sounded like a wonderful man. And what a BEAUTIFUL girl.
You don't know me and I don't know you. I found your blog through my cousin's blog (Lindsay Grantham). So weird that I saw this story because I taught Rylie dance lessons when she was probably about 7 or 8 and Amie took pictures of my twin girls about a year ago. I am so glad that I stumbled onto this story because I was wondering the other day how she was doing. This story is truly inspirational and I am so glad you had it posted on your blog. Thank you so much.
